Just like before buying a car, it is like taking it to a mechanic or authorized service and having it inspected. The buyer wants to know what he is buying, and the insurance company wants to know what he is insuring.
-Before purchasing a boat, always seek help from a qualified surveyor with the necessary experience and knowledge.
This will save you from many unforeseen expenses and will also enable many life-threatening situations you may encounter while driving to be detected in advance.

SURVEY STAGES

Research is carried out in two stages: on land and at sea. While parts such as sails, mooring parts, ropes, pulleys, masts, rigging, GPS, radio, indicators, compass, electrical components, cabins, toilets, deck are checked in the Marine Survey, the engine is used in the marine survey. motor yachts. Control is carried out by the technical team. During land survey, the boat is brought ashore. Propeller, shaft, rudder, keel, antifouling paint and Osmosis Inspection (*) is performed on the bottom of the boat.

When the survey (boat inspection) is completed, it prepares a very comprehensive report about the sailboat or motor yacht, including photographs. You will have a serious idea about the condition of the boat you want to buy. The information you will receive from the comprehensive survey report prepared for the boat will affect your purchasing decision. In the appraisal report, you will have detailed information about the maintenance, repairs and, if any, expenses you will make after purchasing the boat

The prepared SURVEY report gives very good information about the general condition of the boat. The survey report does not only contain any information about the price of the boat. If you want to get information about the boat price, an appraisal is carried out to determine the price of motor yachts or sailboats. You can also have the boat you are going to buy inspected or have an appraisal done.
Boat appraisal is a price determination process prepared for banks and insurance companies for loan transactions, determined according to the condition of the boat. Boat valuation is done where the boat is located. The boat is generally inspected, this process is more superficial than the survey process.
The appraiser determines the value by comparing it with similar boats on the market. If there is no need for an expertise report on the boat you want to buy and you just want the price value to be calculated, the EXPERIENCE report is sufficient.
TECHNICAL SURVEY

The pre-purchase survey is a comprehensive survey that determines the condition of the boat, its machinery and other equipment. The boat must be on land to carry out this survey. The purpose of this survey is; The aim is to decide on the purchase and pricing of the boat by producing a report indicating the condition of the boat.

Insurance companies want to know what the risk of the boat they will insure is. Insurance condition survey is carried out by insurance companies and its purpose is to determine the condition of the boat and reveal the insurance risk. This survey must also be carried out on land. While some insurance companies may have their own specific checklists, others leave everything to the surveyor to prepare the survey report. The insurance condition survey should not be used for pre-purchase survey purposes, the pre-purchase survey should be much more comprehensive and the buyer will want to know much more about the boat.

Technical surveys, creating a maintenance plan, creating an accident report for insurance claims or corrosion, osmosis, etc. They are performed to determine the degree of formations.

Generally :

Osmosis is the transfer of solvents from a highly concentrated medium to a less dense medium, through a selectively permeable membrane, without wasting energy. Since the solvent in living systems is water, what is meant by the term osmosis in biological science is the passage of water from a very dense environment to a less dense environment through a selectively permeable membrane, without wasting energy.

Osmosis Onboard :

The outer surfaces of fiberglass boats are covered with a layer called gelcoat, and this layer allows water to pass through osmosis terminology. Under normal conditions, a small amount of water is removed from the body before it settles. However, due to errors such as leaving gaps in the fiberglass structure during the production phase, not mixing the resin well or not adjusting the proportions correctly, the water entering the body combines with the chemicals remaining in the fiberglass and creates pressure.
This liquid, which is generally acidic, cannot be expelled because its molecular size is large. This acidic structure spreads throughout the body over time and begins to damage the fiberglass.
For this reason, hydrolysis, called osmosis among sailors, can cause permanent damage to the hull and precautions must be taken immediately.
